From birth to today
How do you make a wedding video from photos?
Gather photos of the bride or groom in order, from childhood to today, line up the eyes, and My Clip creates a seamless transition that shows every year that led to the aisle. The video is usually ready in minutes, with no editing skills needed. Perfect for the reception screen, the first dance, or sending to family before the big day.
What a wedding video looks like
Examples of growing-up videos, from early childhood to today.
Why a growing-up video and not a slideshow
A slideshow jumps from photo to photo, and the eye has to fill in the gaps. A growing-up video makes the connection for you: the face in one photo flows into the face in the next, so all the years read as one continuous story. At a reception, that's the difference between something people glance at and something that silences the room.
The video is made only from your photos, so no two are alike. It's a gift you can't buy, and long after the wedding it's something people come back to.
You can make one video for the bride and one for the groom, and play them back to back. Each one stands on its own, with that person's photos.
Who makes the video, and when
Usually it's not the bride or the groom: it's a sister, a best friend, a brother or the parents. That's exactly why it pays to start early, while you can still ask relatives for old photos without giving the surprise away.
Old photos usually take the longest: album prints to scan or photograph with your phone, photos at grandma's, pictures left on an old computer. Gathering the photos is the real work. Creating the video takes minutes.
A week before the wedding is a good time to create it. There's enough time to watch the result, and if you want to swap a photo or two and make it again, there's no pressure.
Tips for a great wedding video
Choose photos where the face is large, sharp and looking at the camera. A group shot where the bride is small in the background won't work well, even if the moment matters.
Keep a steady chronological order: baby, preschool, school, graduation, and on to a photo from this past year. 10 to 15 photos spread across the years are more moving than 30 from the same few years.
If the video will play at the venue, download the file ahead of time to a computer or USB stick, and don't rely on the venue's internet. Check with the DJ that the file opens before the event.
Music does half the work. Pick from our library or upload the couple's song.
How to make a wedding video: 3 steps
- Step 1
Gather photos in order
Between 2 and 60 photos of the bride or groom, from the earliest to today. Scans from the family album work great, as long as the faces are clear.
- Step 2
Line up the eyes
Each photo gets a frame that lets you place the face at the same height. That's what makes the transition look like continuous growth instead of a slide change.
- Step 3
Get a video that's ready to play
My Clip creates the transition between every two photos. Add music and download a file that's ready for the venue screen, the family group chat or social media.
Example: from childhood to the aisle
Say the bride's sister gathered 12 photos, one from each meaningful stage, and put them in order through the years.
Childhood
A photo at age two in the garden, and one from the first day of school with a backpack that's too big.
The teen years
High school, a class trip, prom. The face grows longer, the look changes, the eyes stay the same.
College and after
A graduation photo, one from a big trip, and one from the first apartment.
Today
The last photo is from this year, already with their partner. With every photo lined up, the transition tells twenty years in a minute, and the wedding gets its backstory.
This is the moment the room goes quiet. No video editor and no photographer needed, just the photos the family already has.

Wedding video FAQ
Can I combine photos of the bride and the groom in one video?
The transition works best on one person across the years, because it follows the face. For a wedding we recommend making two videos, one for each, and playing them back to back.
How many photos should I use?
You can start with 2 photos. For a moving wedding video we recommend 10–15 spread across the years. The base price covers up to 10 photos, and volume discounts start at 20.
We only have old printed photos. Will that work?
Yes. A phone photo of a print, in good light and without glare, works well. The faces need to be sharp and not too small in the frame.
How long before the wedding should I start?
Creating the video takes minutes, usually up to a quarter of an hour. Gathering photos from the family is the long part, so start two weeks before and create it a week before.
Can it play on a big screen at the venue?
Yes. Download the file and move it to a computer, a USB stick or the DJ. We recommend checking that it opens at the venue before the event.
Can I add the couple's song?
Yes. Pick music from our library or upload your own song file.
How much does it cost?
A full video costs $24.99 for up to 10 photos, paid once with no subscription. Bigger packs go up to 60 photos for $96.99. You can try it free with two photos first.
Can I try it for free?
Yes. Two photos of the same person become one seamless transition, with no credit card and no subscription. The free trial is once per account.
Is it made with AI?
Yes. AI creates the transition between each pair of neighboring photos, so the face changes in one continuous movement instead of a cut. You choose the photos, and My Clip does the rest.
How do I get the video?
It waits in "My videos" and is also sent by email. You download one video file and share it on WhatsApp, Instagram or TikTok, or play it on a screen at the event.
How is this different from a regular slideshow or a video editor?
A slideshow swaps one photo for the next. Here you see the face actually grow from photo to photo. And unlike hiring an editor, there is no waiting days: you make it yourself from your phone, and the video is usually ready within minutes.
