What a seamless transition between photos looks like

Examples of growing-up videos. The exact same technique is what joins a whole life into one video.

How a memorial video differs from a slideshow

In a slideshow every photo stands alone, and moving between them is a jump. In a memorial video the face in one photo flows into the face in the next, so childhood, adulthood and the later years read as one continuous life rather than a collection.

That's what makes watching it different: not a review of photos, but a life passing before your eyes in a minute. Often it's also the first time grandchildren see what grandpa looked like at their age.

The video is made only from the photos you upload. Nothing is added, no one is invented, and there's no attempt to make anyone say or do something that didn't happen. It's the movement from one photo to the next, and nothing more.

Which photos work

Photos of the same person across the years, from the earliest you have to the most recent. Ideally ones where the face is large in the frame, sharp and looking at the camera.

Old album photos work well. Photograph them with your phone in daylight, without flash or glare on the paper, and keep the photo straight rather than at an angle.

Black-and-white and color photos can live in the same video, and the change between them reads as a change between eras. For a more uniform look, choose photos from a single period.

A group photo where the face is small in the background is usually the weakest choice, even when the moment is precious. If you have a crop that shows just the person, use that instead.

Where to show it

At the memorial service or anniversary, on a screen or a TV at home. Download the file ahead of time to a computer or USB stick, rather than relying on an internet connection there.

In the family group chat, for those who live far away or can't come. The file sends like any other video.

As a family keepsake. Once the photos have been gathered in one place, they live on as one video you can pass along.

How to make a memorial video: 3 steps

  1. Step 1

    Gather photos in order

Between 2 and 60 photos of the same person, from the earliest to the most recent. Scanned or photographed album prints work, as long as the faces are clear.

  2. Step 2

    Line up the eyes

Each photo gets a frame that lets you place the face at the same height. When the eyes sit in the same spot, the move between eras looks continuous rather than jumpy.

  3. Step 3

Get a video that's ready to show

My Clip creates the transition between every two photos. You can add quiet music, then download a file that's ready to show at the service or send to family.

Example: a whole life in one video

Say the family gathered 14 photos of grandpa, from the oldest photo in the album to one from his last year.

  1. The oldest photos

A black-and-white photo from his youth, photographed from the album. Often it's the one the grandchildren have never seen.

  2. The early years

Photos from work, from the wedding, with the kids when they were small. The face changes, the look stays.

  3. A growing family

Photos from holidays, from trips, with grandchildren in his arms.

  4. The later years

A photo at home, on the porch, at a family dinner. With every photo lined up, the transition shows his whole life as one continuous story.

No video editor or studio needed. The photos the family has already gathered are all it takes.

Memorial video FAQ

How many photos do I need?

You can start with 2 photos. For a full life story we recommend 10–20 spread across the years. The base price covers up to 10 photos, and volume discounts start at 20.

We only have old printed photos. Does that work?

Yes, and it's very common. A phone photo of a print, in daylight and without glare, works well. The faces need to be sharp and not too small in the frame.

Can I mix black-and-white and color photos?

Yes. The change between them reads as a change between eras. If you prefer a uniform look, build the video from photos of a single period.

Does the video make the person move or speak?

No. The video only connects the photos you uploaded, creating the movement from one photo to the next. It doesn't invent moments that didn't happen or put words in anyone's mouth.

What happens to the photos we upload?

The photos are used only to create the video and show it in your account. The full details are in our privacy policy.

Can I add music?

Yes. Choose quiet music from our library or upload your own file, such as a song they loved.

How much does it cost?

A full video costs $24.99 for up to 10 photos, paid once with no subscription. Bigger packs go up to 60 photos for $96.99. You can try it free with two photos first.

Can I try it for free?

Yes. Two photos of the same person become one seamless transition, with no credit card and no subscription. The free trial is once per account.

Is it made with AI?

Yes. AI creates the transition between each pair of neighboring photos, so the face changes in one continuous movement instead of a cut. You choose the photos, and My Clip does the rest.

How do I get the video?

It waits in "My videos" and is also sent by email. You download one video file and share it on WhatsApp, Instagram or TikTok, or play it on a screen at the event.

How is this different from a regular slideshow or a video editor?

A slideshow swaps one photo for the next. Here you see the face actually grow from photo to photo. And unlike hiring an editor, there is no waiting days: you make it yourself from your phone, and the video is usually ready within minutes.
