What a then and now video is.

A then and now video puts an old photo next to a recent one of the same person and shows the jump in time. Most are made as a side by side or a quick cut. With My Clip the two photos flow into each other: the face from then slowly becomes the face from now, in one continuous shot.

You only need two photos to make one, which is exactly what the free try uses. Add photos from the years in between and it becomes a full growing up video.

Three steps. Two photos.

  1. 01Pick a photo from thenA childhood, school or wedding day photo where the face is clear and looking toward the camera. A phone snapshot of a printed photo works.
  2. 02Pick a photo from nowA recent photo with a similar angle. When the head sits at a similar tilt in both, the transition comes out smoother.
  3. 03Line up the eyes and createDrag and zoom so the eyes sit in the same spot in both photos. My Clip creates the transition, usually within minutes, and you download the video.

Ideas for a then and now video.

  • A milestone birthday: a first birthday photo that becomes the 30, 40 or 60 year old of today.
  • A couple: each of you as a kid, then each of you now, played back to back at the wedding or anniversary.
  • A reunion or a retirement: the class photo or the first day at work, then today.
  • A social post: a short then and now clip for Instagram, TikTok or the family WhatsApp group.

Photos that blend well.

The face does the work, so give it room: one person in the frame, eyes visible, no sunglasses or hands across the face. Soft daylight beats flash.

The closer the two photos are in angle and size, the more the change reads as time passing rather than a camera move. A bigger gap in years only makes the moment stronger.

Quick questions before you start.

How many photos do I need for a then and now video?

Two: one from then and one from now. You can add photos from the years in between, up to 60, for a longer story.

Can I use an old printed photo?

Yes. Photograph it with your phone in soft light, straight on, and crop away the edges before you upload it.

Can the two photos be decades apart?

Yes. The bigger the gap, the more dramatic the change. Lining up the eyes matters more than the number of years.

Where can I share it?

Download the video and send it on WhatsApp, post it on Instagram or TikTok, or play it on a screen at the event.

How much does it cost?

A full video costs $24.99 for up to 10 photos, paid once with no subscription. Bigger packs go up to 60 photos for $96.99. You can try it free with two photos first.

Can I try it for free?

Yes. Two photos of the same person become one seamless transition, with no credit card and no subscription. The free trial is once per account.

Is it made with AI?

Yes. AI creates the transition between each pair of neighboring photos, so the face changes in one continuous movement instead of a cut. You choose the photos, and My Clip does the rest.

How do I get the video?

It waits in "My videos" and is also sent by email. You download one video file and share it on WhatsApp, Instagram or TikTok, or play it on a screen at the event.

How is this different from a regular slideshow or a video editor?

A slideshow swaps one photo for the next. Here you see the face actually grow from photo to photo. And unlike hiring an editor, there is no waiting days: you make it yourself from your phone, and the video is usually ready within minutes.
